Reasoning

  This supertask provides higher-level reasoning to any of the other supertasks which requests it, as shown in Figure 33. Central to this supertask are the four tasks which make up understanding. As this was the focus of my research, this supertask represented the most complete portion of the implementation. The tasks are instantiated to the level which allows the   creative understanding of novel concepts to occur as described in Chapter 6. The main limitation of the current model is the fact that problem reformulation only works via direct textual indicators, the spontaneous retrieval technique is not implemented (as discussed earlier, this is due to efficiency issues). However, as has been discussed previously, this is not a severe limitation for the functionality of the system within the domain of reading as the   communicative agreement between the author and the reader is sufficient to allow direct indicators to trigger problem reformulation as needed.
