This is my second year to serve on the Teagle Steering Committee.
Previously served on the Teagle Subcommittee on FLA
The 1998-1999 academic year was the third time since 1992 that I have served
on the W.T. Young Scholarship Committee. After my first experience
on this committee, I developed a scoring scheme for judges which is still
being used.
This is the second year, in my second turn, to serve as a classroom visitor
for peer reviews. I have visited (or am planning to visit) nine teacher's
classrooms during the past two years.
I have been actively involved with Transylvania's Faculty Technology
Initiative. I have been involved almost since the beginning, which included
researching other institutions as to how they have addressed the issue of
offering faculty training in technology. I am convinced that we are proceeding
in the best way possible.
I have spoken at several events at Family Weekend and Fall Orientation
Programs (for parents).
I have regularly participated in Open Houses at Transy and Admission
Events held in Louisville and once in Nashville.
I have made two appearances on Transylvania Topics.
Three times since 1995 I have presented a session on Fractals to
seventh grade girls visiting Transy during Women's History Month.
I served for two years on the Judicial Council.
My husband and I served for four years on the Parents Council.
I served for two years on the Academic Affairs Committee, one year as chair.
I have recently been working with the Technology Coordinator at Lexington
Traditional Magnet School in order to coordinate volunteer work by some of
our computer science students with the computer club at LTMS.
During the summer of 1995, I developed the course materials for, and taught
the Mathematics part for the three week Appalachian Camp at Transy.
For many years I was in charge of teaching the computer science portion
at Transy's Academic/Computer camps in the summer for middle and high school
students.
For several years I made presentations at Transy's Science and Technology
summer camps.
In April, 1999, I made a presentation on my research at the Thursday Open
Hour Faculty Forum series.
