The previous section attempted to show the range, accomplishments,
and limitations of a hundred years of reading research across
three disciplines with different goals. It is interesting
to note that very few of the theories attempted to incorporate
creative behavior; while there are some education research
proposals which discuss creativity, there are few full theories
of reading which attempt
to use creativity. Rather than leave it at that, I now wish to
briefly discuss some research lines on the specific issues of
creativity. These do not directly relate to reading, although they
have influenced my work on the specific aspects
of creative understanding.
